Prompt: Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

Prompt Response:  A time I did something out of the norm was a few days ago. I am a creature of habit and need to have certain things get done during the day or I feel discomfort. But a while back that changed one weekend. There were various chores I assigned myself to complete. I needed to vacuum the basement, deep clean my room, and break up the sticks that were in the way of the entrance to the basement. (If I did not clean up the sticks, my band members would have trouble getting to the basement.) That following week I felt very stressed due to school and work. It got to the end of the weekend and nothing was completed due to how tired I was. My parents know me for who I am and were very surprised by this. This is a time I did something out of the norm.  Summary:  We worked on our Heart Assignment. Reflection: I learned that I needed to turn in my heart assignment into Blogger.

Prompt: Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt Response:  A metaphor I would use to describe my own mind is "having a lot on my plate." At the moment I'm juggling school, work, tutoring, music theory lessons, my band, and friends. It can be very stressful and sometimes I want to give up one of the things.  With help, I can figure out how to evenly have time for all of them. I do feel it's a learning adventure for me and I can improve from it.  Summary: We worked on understanding another of Emily Dickinson's poems.  Reflection:  I learned about "Heart! We will forget him!"

Prompt: Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

Prompt Response:  An adventure I would like to go on is travelling to Ireland. I've always wanted to go there ever since I was little. I was shown lots about Ireland due to me being Irish by blood by my ancestors. I love the culture, comforting food, and how the land is laid out. There's a possibility it might be my graduation present from my parents. If it is, I'm extremely excited. This is an adventure I would like to go on.  Summary: We worked on understanding Emily Dickinson's poem. Reflection:  I learned about Emily DIckinson's life and career.

Prompt: Describe something you will never fully understand.

Prompt Response: Something I will never fully understand is how the universe was created. The wonders of the universe are very interesting and if possible i'd love to know how it was created one day if I get the chance. This is something I will never fully understand.  Summary: We presented our Origin Myth story posters.  Reflection: I learned about my other classmates Origin Myth story posters.

Prompt: Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

Prompt Response:  There are many questions I have about existence, purpose, or the world around me. I've always wondered what the purpose of living is. What is our part in this universe? I wonder if we will ever know why all of this has happened and why it's happening. My second question is if there is a higher power in the universe. Is there some type of god or being that is in charge of all of this? I do think there is some type of higher power but i'm not 100% sure who or what it is.  Summary: We worked on our Narative Writing Assignment.  Reflection:  I learned the method to write our Narative Writing Assignment from Mr. Reese.

Prompt: Describe a time you felt completely lost.

Prompt Response:  There have been many times where I've been in situations that end up with me becoming lost. One of the worst times I was lost was in my sophomore year. I was taking AP World and was struggling due to the amount of information our teaching was giving us. There had been a quiz/test every week and it was hard due to me having a job. I wasn't sure what to do and this situation, so I had to do something out of my comfort zone. For a few months I had to study on the weekends and take a break from hanging out with my friends. It was hard but definitely improved my grade in the class.  Summary: We all presented our Myth projects. Reflection:  I learned what we are doing tomorrow.

Prompt: Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Prompt Response:  American Literature class has changed me over the past week. One strength is the routine of the work. You come into class every day and start working on whatever assignment that Mr. Reese gives us. Examples are group work, independent, full class, etc. One challenge is keeping up with all these Blog posts every day. I'm not used to doing the same type of work and format every single day but I'm confident I will get used to it.  Summary: We took a Quiz on Myths.  Reflection:  I learned what is needed on a Powerpoint Presentation.

Prompt: Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt Response:  A real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship I experienced was through my old friend. At the time in Middle School I was making more and more friends each day. My friend did not like that and started acting strangely around me. I came up with the conclusion that he was extremely jealous of me and my new friends. We sadly stopped talking and that was the end of our long friendship.  Summary: We read The Jealous Father, discussing the theme, and meanings.  Reflection:  I learned the lesson of The Jealous Father.

Prompt: Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Prompt Response:  A meaningful place in my life that carries a story is my house. I grew up mostly in the current house i'm in and I have achieved a lot in this house. A few years back my basement flooded and made a horrible mud pile. Most things down there got destroyed in the moment. In honor of my house, I decided to clean out the basement completely and turn it into a music jam space. Houses are full of memories and there will always be stories told in them. Prompt: Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt Response:  A time I felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths is when I used to camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Most of the time I would attend all types of different activities like fishing, hiking,  whittling, and exploring. I will always enjoy nature and will continue to embrace it.  Summary: We took notes on Native American Literature and learned new definitions that have to do with Native American culture.  Reflection:  I learned the definition of a Myth.
