Prompt: Chris and his sister Carine McCandless had a very close relationship, even when he struggled to connect with others. Write about a relationship in your life where you feel truly understood. Explain what makes that relationship strong and how it compares to the connection between Chris and Carine in Into the Wild.

Prompt Response:  A relationship in my life where I feel truly understood is the relationship I have with my Dad. Similar to Chris and Carine, we have a lot in common. We show the same musical interests, hobbies, etc. We are basically carbon copies of each other. I'm very grateful to have a Dad that is this cool. This is a relationship in my life where I feel truly understood.  Summary: I learned about new information in chapter 13 today.  Reflection:  I worked on the assignment given for chapter 13 today.

Prompt: When you experience strong emotions, how do you usually handle them? What influences that approach?

Prompt Response:  When I experience strong emotions I handle them by being honest and talking about it. If I express my emotions I will feel better about myself and be relieved. My parents influenced this approach due to them wanting me to be honest as a child. This has definitely made me a better person overtime and cleared my mindset. When I experience strong emotions, this is how I handle them.  Summary:  I learned about what went on in chapter 12.  Reflection:  I worked on answering questions with the class for chapter 12.

Prompt: Based on the first 40 minutes of the film and Chapters 1–11 of the book, does the visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified or more reckless than the text does? Explain how the medium (film vs writing) shapes your perspective.

Prompt Response:  T he visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified  than the text does due to the visual context given. The text gave us visuals to assume but never gave us real eye to eye moments. It's easier to understand McCandless's desire to leave society and be alone. This is why the  visual version of Chris’s journey make his choices seem more justified  than the text.  Summary: I learned about more specific moments in "Into The Wild" by watching the film.  Reflection:  I worked on the Illuminate assignment.

Prompt: Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11?

Prompt Response:   A  moment when my understanding of my family changed as I got older was when my parents told me about their life in the past. They decided to keep information from me until I was old enough. Some people like McCandless would be hurt but I thought it was the right choice for my parents. I respected the information they told me and found it interesting. This is a  moment when my understanding of my family changed as I got older.  Summary: I learned about the new information in chapter 11.  Reflection:  I worked on the assignment for chapter 11.

Prompt: Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling.

Prompt Response:  The chapter that  stood out to the most was Chapter 9. This chapter was meaningful, interesting, or impactful because of the relation McCandless built with Franz. It was very family oriented which gave me very different emotions all throughout the chapter. When Franz found out about McCandless, I found it heartbreaking and felt depressed. This is the chapter that stood out to me the most.  Summary: I learned the test is 40 questions long.  Reflection:  I worked on the chapters 1-10 test on Into The Wild.

Prompt: Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt Response: A  time I  have chosen to be on my own instead of relying on others was very refreshing. A group of friends really wanted to get together and do a big group hangout. I had a hard decision of studying for this big test or hanging out with my friends. I leaned towards studying due to hanging out with them the following week. As a result, I made a good grade on the test and felt more confident in school for knowing the content. This is a  time I  have chosen to be on my own instead of relying on others.  Summary: I learned about new information In chapter 8.  Reflection:  I started working on the critical thinking questions for the assignment.

Prompt: Choose a vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response:  A  vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with me personally is luminous. The word relates to light, brilliance, and that's how I am trying to represent myself. The goal for myself everyday is to have a positive mindset on everything I can. Some people would say to bring a positive energy to the room. This is a  vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with me personally.  Summary: I learned about new vocabulary in lesson 10.  Reflection:  We did an assignment on vocabulary for lesson 10.

Prompt: For most of you, yesterday you took the SAT. If you did not, you will take it before you leave high school. What is your desired SAT score? Identify your top three colleges and explain why each school appeals to you.

Prompt Response:  For most people, yesterday people took the SAT. I plan on taking it on Saturday of this week. The SAT score I desire is around 12 to 13 hundred. I plan on going to trade school after high school for Aviation Mechanics. My top desired schools are Atlanta Technical, Macon Technical, and Piedmont Technical.  Summary: I learned about new information in chapter 7.  Reflection:  We did a worksheet off information in chapter 7.

Prompt: Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

Prompt Response:   Now that we have sprung forward, the time change impacts me personally when it comes to my sleep schedule. It's very hard to get back to a normal sleep schedule when the time has jumped up by an hour. It normally takes 1-2 weeks for my system to go back to normal. Besides that, I enjoy the dark mornings and light days. I find it very beautiful.  Now that we have sprung forward, this is how the time change impacts me personally.  Summary: I learned about new information in Chapter 6.  Reflection:  I worked on "3, 2, 1" assignment.

Prompt: In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

Prompt Response:  A  book, song, musician, or artist that has influenced the way I think about life, goals, and the world around me is Toad the Wet Sprocket. I chose this band due to how much I can relate to their music. An example is a song called, "Something's Always Wrong." This song is about consistent negativity, anxiety, and insecurity. It's mainly referring to challenges with maintaining relationships. This is a book, song, musician, or artist that has influenced the way I think about life, goals, and the world around me. Summary: I learned about new information in chapter 5.  Reflection:  I worked on the questions for chapter 5.

Prompt: In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

Prompt Response:   If I had to simplify my life and keep only a few important possessions I'd probably take a break from working until after high school. I realistically wouldn't want to give this up due to the experiences and gain I get out of it. It's one of the reasons I can have fun with friends, drive, and spoil myself musically. This question is extremely hard and I honestly wouldn't give up anything I have going on right now.  If I had to simplify my life and keep only a few important possessions this is what I'd leave behind.  Summary: I learned about new information from Chapter 4.  Reflection:  I worked on the Writable assignment about Chapter 4.

Prompt: People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

Prompt Response:  A  time when I needed to distance myself from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective was at work. It was a very busy Friday night and I work in the kitchen running food. I was overloaded with a large amount of tickets and it was very overstimulating. On top of that, servers kept messing up various things. In order to calm myself I had to take a step outside and cool down. What I learned from that is if you're in a difficult situation, get frustrated, take a breather and come back with a fresh mind.  Summary: I learned about what's going on in chapter 2-3.  Reflection:  I worked on reading chapters 2-3 and worked on the worksheet.

Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response:  My  first impression of Christopher McCandless is mainly curiosity. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, I believe that he isn't really sure what he's doing and winging it. I believe this due to the conversations he endured with the truck driver. He didn't know much on the route he was taking, food situation, etc. This was my first impression of Christopher McCandless.    Summary: I learned about Christopher McCandless and the start of his long journey.  Reflection:  I worked on reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild.

Prompt: Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response:  The assignment we did today on vocabulary section 9 was very interesting. I didn't understand most of the words but the one I knew automatically was "bumpkin." The hardest word to understand was "soporific." Picking images and different  scenarios definitely helped me start to understand the different meanings of this vocabulary. This is what we did in the assignment today on vocabulary section 9.  Summary: I learned about the new vocabulary in section 9.  Reflection:   I worked on creating my Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express.
