Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response: My first impression of Christopher McCandless is mainly curiosity. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, I believe that he isn't really sure what he's doing and winging it. I believe this due to the conversations he endured with the truck driver. He didn't know much on the route he was taking, food situation, etc. This was my first impression of Christopher McCandless.

Summary: I learned about Christopher McCandless and the start of his long journey.

Reflection: I worked on reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild.
