Prompt: How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation.

Prompt Response: Watching the film version of Into the Wild changed my understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book due to the amount of emotion shown. In the book McCandless was represented as selfish, rude, and whiny. However, in the film McCandless had confidence, personality, kindness, etc.

A time when seeing something visually changed my understanding of a situation was at work. My co-workers were saying that a customer was being rude and obnoxious. I believed them until I saw the person was just hangry and didn't mean anything by the attitude expressed. After the customer had her meal she apologized and thanked us for the amazing meal.

Summary: I learned about the different outlooks of the book and the film for Into The Wild.

Reflection: I watched Into The Wild and answered questions.
