Prompt: After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

   Prompt Response:  The new ideas or perspectives I gained from my poster were very positive. I got a lot of good compliments on the creative design, the personal Metaphors/Similes I used, and how I laid out everything. This was overall a very fun project to make and I would be fine with doing it again. These were the new ideas or perspectives I gained from my poster.  Summary:  I learned about all of my other classmates perspectives from their posters.  Reflection:  We worked on giving comments to our classmates posters. 

Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

  Prompt Response:  The  topic that challenged me the most when creating my figurative language was "Pressure to Fit In." I really had to think hard about this topic and be truthful with myself on how I feel in society. It's difficult to be yourself In this day in age with the amount of negativity that goes around. I then realized how the world is like a mask that most people won't fit in and refused to wear. This is the topic that challenged me the most when creating my figurative language.  Summary: I learned more about myself while working on this project.  Reflection:  We worked on the Rising in My Own Words project. 

Prompt: Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

  Prompt Response:   What I learned about myself while writing my figurative language was the amount of similarity and difference I have with people. All people are different in some way and that's totally fine. Sometimes you'll get phrased for it, judged, or nothing. It really makes you think a different way and humbles you. This is what I learned about myself while writing my figurative language.  Summary: I learned about the requirements on our Digital Poster today.  Reflection:  We worked on the Digital Poster (Rising in My Own Words).

  Prompt Response:   Something I did over the break that helped me reset before returning to school was going to Orange Beach, Alabama with my friends and family. Most of the time we played music together in the basement and listened to a lot of records. Mardi Gras was happening so we decided to attend the parade and hangout for a few hours. It was a very refreshing reset and I had a very enjoyable time. This is something I did over the break that helped me reset before returning to school.  Summary: I learned about this new author & poem for Black History Month today.  Reflection:  We worked on finding Similes & Metaphors in this poem we read.   

Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

  Prompt Response:   If I had to describe how I show love using only three objects, I would choose music, confrontation, and food. I chose these because I express these feelings/actions everyday with the people I care about most. Music is to be shared, expressing feelings, and putting emotions into meals. The main object of love I show has to be music due to how that's my entire life and personality. This is what I've chosen if I had to describe how I show love using only three objects.  Summary: I learned nothing because I needed to complete my essay today.  Reflection:  We worked on valentine poems for our parents, but I had to finish my essay.

Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature.   Prompt Response:  T his experience impacted my confidence as a writer and whether I feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature due to the amount of preparing we did. I didn't completely understand rhetoric at first and it really took me a good minute to fully understand it. It's very refreshing to understand the reasoning people use different ways to word their speech and actions. With this new information, it's very useful for everyday use.  T his is how this experience impacted my confidence as a writer and whether I feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature Summary: I learned the best way to write a Rhetorical Analysis essay with the very helpful and clear planning sheet.  Reflection:  We worked on writing our essays. I got a good start and had to be checked out.

  Prompt Response:  O ne step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped me understand the process more clearly was the rhetorical situation. It helped me understand that a speech is a strategic response to a specific problem, rather than a random bunch of words. I learned how an author or speakers tone and evidence are chosen to influence a specific audience. This is o ne step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped me understand the process more clearly. Summary: I learned more about how to write a Rhetorical Analysis essay.   Reflection:  We did the sheet for the essay. 

Prompt: In the spirit of Valentine’s Day week, describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about (a friend, family member, or significant person in your life).

  Prompt Response:  My  idea of a perfect day spent with someone I care about would be a day full of food and common interests. We'd wake up in the morning to some coffee and a nicely made breakfast. Listen to records throughout the day until the evening. Dinner would come around and we would go for our reservation. We would finally end the night with a movie and go to bed. This is my idea of a perfect day spent with someone I care about.  Summary: I learned about Obama's speech Yes we am.  Reflection:  We did a sheet to prepare for our essay.  

Prompt: What is the best piece of advice of that your parent or guardian has given you? Tell what the advice was and what prompted you to ask the question.

  Prompt Response:  T he best piece of advice that my parent or guardian has given me is to always figure out how to do what you love. My Dad and I were having this conversation a couple years back when I was struggling with school and life in general. If you don't do what you love, you will not be able to live life to your fullest. For me, music is my life and without it I will never be my true self. This is the best piece of advice that my parent or guardian has given me.  Summary: I learned about this new poem and how to identify specific details.  Reflection:  We worked on a poem

Prompt: What is the most challenging part of working in a group? Discuss a time when a group assignment did not go as well as you planned and how you learned from that experience.

  Prompt Response:  The most challenging part of working in a group is getting my members to do their side of the work. Most of the time I have to end up doing someone else's work because they decide not to. This exact thing has happened to me multiple times and there really isn't anything I can do about it. This is the most challenging part of working in a group.  Summary: I learned more about Rhetorical Analysis.  Reflection:  We did a Writable assignment. 

Prompt: What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

  Prompt Response:  The  most challenging part of writing an essay for me is brainstorming. I've never been the best at writing in general. Math is my strong suit and will always be. I plan to overcome this challenge by writing more and specifically writing essays. It's a big part of going into college and is something I need to get adjusted to. This is the most challenging part of writing an essay for me.  Summary: I learned about how to write a Rhetorical Analysis.  Reflection:  We worked on a Writable assignment. 

Prompt: Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

  Prompt Response:  A  real moment in my life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story was the day I began high school. There were lots of different events that impacted the way I am now. Friends, school moments, music, family, etc. Without these events I wouldn't be the person I am today. This is a real moment in my life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story.  Summary: I was home sick today. Reflection:  I was home sick today.
