Prompt: Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response:  A time when I paused to appreciate the beauty of nature is when I go camping. One year I went on a beautiful camping trip. We were surrounded by mountains and trees as far as I could see. I was fishing in a river and just noticed how peaceful It was. No responsibility, worries, etc. I learned to live in the moment and not to stress all the time about the future.  Summary: I learned about the theme of Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening.  Reflection:  We worked on our one pager for the poems we were given.

Prompt: In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt Response:  A time when I had to respect  a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate, was between me and my dad. I learned at a very young age that my father is always the authority when it comes to my decisions. That doesn't mean I can't be friendly with my dad and hang out with him. It means I need to respect his wishes and be respectful. This attitude towards my father has brought a very positive relationship between us that will last a lifetime.  Summary: I learned about the theme of the Mending Wall by Robert Frost.  Reflection:  We worked on the Mending Wall on Common Lit.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt Response:  A time when something in my life changed more quickly than I expected was when I started high school. It was an entirely different scene than middle school. Earlier date times, harder work, tests more frequently, environment, etc. It was confusing and a little scary at first, but after the first few months I got used to it. This experience connects to Frost's idea that "Nothing gold can stay" because of the new environment from transitioning from middle school to high school.  Summary: I learned the theme for "Nothing Gold Can Stay" Reflection:  We worked on the worksheet for "The Road Not Taken"

Prompt: As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response:  My favorite word right now is "defile." I chose this word due to it making the most sense in a normal conversation. I wouldn't see myself using any of this vocabulary in normal day to day conversation. That is why I chose this word from the vocabulary. This is my favorite word right now.  Summary: We worked on our Birches slides today. Reflection:  I learned about the theme of Birches.

Prompt: In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt Response:  Imagination helps me cope with challenges, boredom, or stress. My main thing is listening and playing music. It keeps my mind in a calm state where I don't feel like i'm on Earth. As used in class I felt like I was in heaven. Reading books also keep my mind at a good focus and helps me cope with stress. This is how Imagination helps me cope with challenges, boredom, or stress.  Summary: We read Birches by Robert Frost today.  Reflection:  I learned the theme of Birches by Robert Frost.

Prompt: After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt Response:  A time I faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded my complete focus was one extremely busy Friday at my job. I was dealing with a lot of food to run with not a lot of support or time. I really had to focus to run through the tickets with being as accurate as possible. My manager was helpful enough to help run some of the plates out as I was reading the orders. This is a time when I faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded my complete focus.  Summary: We read Out, Out by Robert Frost today. Reflection:  I learned the theme for Out, Out by Robert Frost.

Prompt: What did you do for Fall break?

Prompt Response:  I enjoyed my Fall break a lot. Most of the time I worked and hung out with friends. We watched football and listened to records for most of the time. Family wise, I went to South Carolina to go to the beach and hangout. We laughed a lot and also listened to a ton of records. That is what I did for my Fall break.  Summary:  We worked on making a comic out of our new vocabulary words.  Reflection:  I got checked out early today.

Prompt: How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response:  I always try to find time to enjoy my day, even when I have a lot going on. First, I'll try to listen to music throughout the day based on my mood. It really helps me calm down and think accurately. Second, I normally read a chapter in a book to work my mind and just to make sure i'm reading something that isn't on a screen every day. Finally, I love having my cup of coffee in the morning before going to school. It's very soothing and helps me wake up before the school day starts. This is how I find time to enjoy my day, even when I have a lot going on.  Summary: We finished our Writable "Ambush" paragraph. Reflection:  I got checked out early today.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response:  A time when someone's words had a lasting impact on me was when I talked to Dad about what direction I wanted to go in after high school. I haven't always been sure on what I want to do and my Dad always tells me that I shouldn't rush. He tells me that I should always chase my dreams and that if I can't make a profession out of it to make sure I still do it. He encourages that I don't rush into anything super quickly and to take my time to think. This is a time when someone's words had a lasting impact on me.  Summary: We did our Writable "Ambush" assignment today.  Reflection:  I learned what I had to do tomorrow in order to not get behind.

Prompt: Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt Response:  A moment when I had to step out of my comfort zone was when I started music theory lessons. I've been doing music all of my life and my main instrument is guitar. I completely learned by ear and have mastered the basics and mediocre parts of the guitar. The theory part of music has always challenged me and made me uncomfortable. It's a lot of hard work to learn and memorize what you need to know. This is a moment when I had to step out of my comfort zone.  Summary: We made the claim for the Writable on the story Ambush.   Reflection:  I learned the new vocabulary that I missed yesterday.

Prompt: Write about a dream that felt real.

Prompt Response:  I've never had a dream that felt completely real but I've had a few that had realistic elements. Some of the elements could be family, friends, surroundings. Most of my dreams tend to be either something I desire, sorrow, or fear. I don't normally dream anymore though unless I take medicine when i'm sick. This is a dream that felt real.  Summary: We did the NewELA - Cancel Culture & Vocabulary Lesson 3 assignment today. Reflection:  I was not here today due to a doctors appointment.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt Response:  Something I've always been curious about is what happens after death. I choose to believe that there is a higher power and that you are going towards something. I can't decide if there's a paradise, reincarnation, etc. Believing in nothing after death is depressing and I can't find a reason why someone would want to believe that. This is something I've always been curious about.  Summary: We did our Argument paragraph today. Reflection:  I learned how to explain evidence today in class.

Prompt: Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response:  The best gift I have received was two years ago on Christmas day. I was 15 years old continuing my guitar journey and looking for a new guitar to expand my tone. I really wanted a Les Paul with P90 pickups. It had that sweet warm tone that could get really clean while playing lightly then get harsh when playing harder. It felt like a Christmas Story moment, when my Dad had it behind the Christmas tree. I opened it up realizing it was the exact one I tried out at the shop a few weeks back. It was the same description I explained early but it had a gold top finish with a rosewood fret-board. It is one of the most beautiful guitars I've played and is still one of my main guitars to this day.  Summary: Today we worked on the Unpopular Opinion assignment.  Reflection:  I learned about formal and informal language today.
